CONFLICT RESOLUTION

North West Climate Peace Hubs: A Climate Security Approach to Conflict Prevention.

The project team had the honor of visiting Jibia, Katsina State on Tuesday 5th of March 2024 as part of our ongoing efforts in the Climate Peace Hub Project, funded by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
Jibia is a community deeply impacted by the activities of bandits, and also the harsh effects of insecurity and conflict. Despite these challenges, our visit was met with warmth from the people of Jibia.
During our stay, we engaged in fruitful discussions with district heads, leaders of women and youth organizations, as well as emirs and village heads. The dialogue was enriching, with a shared commitment to seeking sustainable solutions to the pressing issues facing the community.
One of the most memorable moments was our visit to the JIJI IDP Camp, where we had the opportunity to meet with families affected by the violence. The stories we heard were heartbreaking – children who had lost their fathers, women who had lost their husbands, and families torn apart by the brutality of banditry.
We remain dedicated to working alongside local leaders and stakeholders to foster peace, resilience, and hope in Jibia and beyond.
